“I’m trying to put it all back together
I got a story and I’m trying to tell it right
I got the kerosene and the desire
I’m trying to start a flame in the heart of the night
Oh, you got a fire and it’s burning in the rain
Thought that it went out but it’s burning just the same
And you don’t look back, not for anything
Cause you love someone, you love ‘em all the same
If you love someone, you love ‘em all the same.”
(The Fray —Heartbeat)
The Fray started off the show with “You Found Me ” before moving into “Heartbeat”. In between songs the band answered questions ranging from Denver Broncos football, to things in their personal life to how the latest CD had come about.
Co-Founder of the band, Isaac Slade, was asked where he and the band get their ideas for songs. Slade responded quickly; “We get a lot of ideas and inspiration from old songs and new songs that are out and of course from break ups….”.
As for what music he is listening to these days while traveling, Slade told the crowd about his love for the Bjork Box Set. Not a big stretch.
The band’s other co-founder, Joe King, was not spared the interrogation. King was asked by Mix 104.1′s Gregg Daniels about his thoughts on the controversial Denver Bronco’s quarterback Tim Tebow. In Denver, Tebow is a crowd favorite despite not having started a game in the NFL. Pundits offering their thoughts on Tebow are all over the place. They hate him or they love him…there is no in between.
King’s response was a little guarded. “Let’s give him a hand,” said King not looking to add fuel to the Tebow fire. Daniels fired back at King, asking him if he’d be interested in a little wager. The New England Patriots travel Denver in December…..A Patriots win and the band agrees to come back and play Mix Fest next September in Boston. At that point, Slade looked over at his band member and muttered something about not being able to win that bet…Look for a BIG Patriots win in Denver. As for The Fray playing Mix-Fest next September, we’ll have to wait and see.
