Ortiz was chosen to start the All-Star Game for the AL after leading fan balloting at DH…It marks his 8th overall All-Star selection in the last 9 years since 2004 (all but 2009), and his 6th nod as starter (2005-08, 2011; did not play in 2008 due to injury)…It is his 5th selection as a DH (also 2005, 2008, 2010-11) and he is the 1st player to win fan balloting at DH on 4 occasions…He is 4-for-12 (.333) with 1 homer and 3 RBI in 6 previous All-Star Game appearances.
