Brockton 4, Pittsfield 2
Right fielder Keith Brachold hit a two-run homer in the top of the first inning to give Brockton an early lead, and the Rox cruised to a 4-2 win against Pittsfield at Wahconah Park. After leading Pittsfield 2-0 through the first three innings, the Rox got on the board again in the fourth when catcher Chris Grossman singled to bat in Brachold.
Neither team scored during the next three frames and Pittsfield broke the silence in the bottom of the
eighth when right fielder Jerod Edmondson and shortstop Danny Bomback each batted in a run. First baseman Trey Hernandez’s ninth inning sacrifice fly to center field scored Brockton’s final run of the game.
Brachold led the Rox with two hits, two runs and two RBI in four at-bats, while three different Colonials chipped in multiple hits for Pittsfield. Dustin Birosak, now 7-1 on the season, earned the win by allowing seven hits, two runs and striking out two in 7.1 innings pitched.
